Only August 26, 2008, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors held a hearing on expanded oil exploration and extraction. Stillwater Associates made a presentation on the financial impact on of lifting the ban on offshore oil drilling.

The California Energy Commission asked Stillwater Associates to make a presentation on the need for logistics infrastructure for the flow of renewable fuels like ethanol and biodiesel. This presentation was made at a CEC workshop hosted by the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on July 12, 2007.

Stillwater Associates addressed the Pacific Oil Conference in September 2006 on the issue of renewable fuels in the West.

OPIS sponsored a conference on Ethanol and Biodiesel in Chicago in September, 2005. Stillwater Associates addressed the issues of ethanol's history, supply chain, and profitability, as well as the legislative landscape for this product in two presentations. We also briefed the conference attendees on the supply, demand, opportunities and challenges of biodiesel.

In January, 2005, Stillwater Associates Vice President Thomas Gieskes addressed the Management of Technology Seminar at the Wharton School on the firm's outlook for world energy.

Stillwater Associates responded when California's Air Resources Board called for out of the box thinking on how to reduce tail pipe pollution. On November 8, 2004, Thomas Gieskes made a presentation at a CARB workshop recommending consideration of a proposal to trade mobile and stationary source emissions.

The House of Representatives' Committee on Government Reform, Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Natural Resources, and Regulatory Affairs invited Stillwater Associates to testify at the May 28, 2004 hearing "Easing Pain at the Gasoline Pump: Finding Solutions for Western Woes"

At the OPIS Supply Conference in October 2003, Stillwater Associates made a presentation titled "Regional Dynamics Affecting National Supply". In this presentation we highlighted some of the upcoming gasoline supply issues facing the states with eminent MTBE bans.

During 2003, Stillwater Associates assisted the Energy Information Administration with studies on California gasoline prices, as well as a look at the impact of the upcoming ban on MTBE in New York and Connecticut.

At the Pacific Oil Conference in September 2003, Stillwater Associates spoke about gasoline and diesel fuel supply issues, focusing on the PADD V Petroleum Supply Perspective.

Stillwater Associates presented its report on the Hawaii Gas Caps legisltion at the State Capital in Honolulu on September 8, 2003. The report concluded that price controls will not reduce gasoline prices. Information on the Stillwater Associates report, along with reports from the Federal Trade Commission and the National Council of State Legislators can be found on the State's website.

In April, 2003, Stillwater Associates presented a report to the California Energy Commission on the status of Marine Petroleum Infrastructure for the State. Stillwater Associates participated in a two day workshop on the issues around the proposed Strategic Fuel Reserve. Information on that workshop are on the CEC’s website.

Stillwater Associates made a presentation at the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association 2003 annual meeting. The presentation is titled "The Future of Fuels, California as a Benchmark". It illustrates the March 2003 price spike in California, as well as discusses that State's work in the area of fuels and pollution reduction.

Stillwater Associates has been retained by the State of Hawaii to analyze the issues around high gasoline prices in the State. On January 26, 2003, Stillwater Associates made an interim presentation to members of the Hawaii legislature on the issue of gasoline price caps.

In October, 2002, Stillwater Associates spoke to the OPIS National Supply Conference about the impact of the (then) upcoming phase out of MTBE on the California gasoline market.

Stillwater Associates was retained by the California Energy Commission to study the issue of a Strategic Fuel Reserve. The draft paper on the SFR is on the CEC website.

Stillwater Associates also authored the paper that contributed to California Governor Davis' decision to delay the phase out of MTBE. This report, along with a comprehensive collection of related documents, is also on the CEC's website.

Stillwater Associates is often interviewed or invited to speak about issues in the Downstream segment of the Oil Industry.

The California Independent Oil Marketers asked us to address their 50th Annual Meeting where we spoke about the Strategic Fuel Reserve.

At Hart’s World Fuel Conference, Stillwater Associates addressed imports to the West Coast, as well as issues around the UNOCAL gasoline patents

When the California Energy Commission was studying a ban on MTBE, Stillwater Associates challenged the findings of the UC Davis study. The CEC also asked Stillwater to comment on the impact of the decision to ban MTBE from gasoline sold at Lake Tahoe.

The impact of the UNOCAL gasoline patents were restricted to the West Coast until summer RFG II was introduced to the East Coast and Midwest this summer. This presentation has an update on the issues.

OPIS asked us to address West Coast supply and demand issues ast a conference in Santa Monica.
